Abstract U uvodnom dijelu završnog rada daje se kratak prikaz bijele rode, od građe tijela, migracijskih kretanja, selidbenog puta, prehrane do značaja bijele rode za lokalno stanovništvo.
Abstract (english) The introductory part of the final paper gives a brief overview of the white stork, from body structure, migration movements, migration path, diet to the importance of white stork for the local population.
The white stork is the most famous bird in the family of native birds that the locals of the northernmost province of the Republic of Croatia know best. White storks are building their nests on the highest places, very often in artificial places. Racionality, white storks build their nests about 2-3 kilomethres near constant food source. From ancient times, a man lives in harmonious co-existence with a white stork in the area of Međimurje and describes the same way of life in his poems by well-known Croatian writer Joža Horvat. Furthermore, there will be a talk of white stork protection systems in several European countries that have declared the European Stork Village. Among the most prominent countries are Slovenia, Slovakia, Greece, Serbia and Croatia where it is necessary to mention the most famous village of the genus Čigoč in Sisak - Moslavina County. The main aim of the paper was to investigate how the locals of Međimurje County perceive the white stork as one of the most famous migratory birds. For this reason, a survey was conducted of the local population in the Međimurje region, and questions related to white stork such as nutrition, nest weight, migratory pathway, major causes of threat, the spatial distribution of white stork nests, and ultimately the recognition of the 2019 project. The Year of the White Stork. " Research has shown that most subjects consider white storks as a positive element in space, and their nests should be left on electrical poles and properly maintained. Respondents also believe that the white genus is an endangered bird species and that some of the most significant causes of the threat are the disappearance of individual habitats and the overuse of pesticides. Furthermore, the majority of respondents in the open-ended question state that white stork is a symbol of fertility and tthe herald of the coming of spring, but also that it is a symbol of evil and a hint of fire at the facility. A few respondents do not see white stork as a positive element in space and think that they should be removed and that they do major damage to the roofs of houses and chimneys.
